In early 1982 a small group of people in Fairfax County, Virginia came together to create a ministry for adults with mental retardation. There was great need to create homes and services for this community, who were all but ignored and abandoned by the broader community and left in care of their aging relatives. A group home was created to fill the void using live-in counselors.
We currently operate three group homes, one house for women and two houses for men--all providing live-in counselors to assist and guide the residents in their daily living skills. Several of our folks have been in our program for over 20 years. We encourage every residents living in our homes to participate in any activity that other folks enjoy and are enriched by and make sure that a full array of spiritual activities available to our residents.
